CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Their respective performances during victories by the Navy swimming and diving teams over UMBC allowed Courtney Vandament (Sr., Coppell Texas) and Ben Freedman (So., Kennewick, Wash.) to sweep the Patriot League Diver-of-the-Week awards on Monday.
Vandament posted a score of 227.32 to win the one-meter event against the Retrievers and tallied 235.20 points to win the three-meter board. She won the one-meter competition by less than nine points and the three-meter event by 15 points.
Freedman began the meet at UMBC by placing second by 13.5 points on the one-meter board with a total score of 282.23. He would go on to score 312.45 points to win the three meter by 28 points.
This marks the second time this season Freedman has been tabbed as the league's diver of the week and the second weekly laurel earned by Vandament in her career.
Both Navy teams will open the home portion of their seasons Friday afternoon when the Mids play host to Virginia in a 4 p.m. meet in Lejeune Hall.
