CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Strong efforts during last week's Nike Cup resulted in Navy's Mac Anthony (Sr., Allentown, Pa.) and Laura Gorinski (Jr., Greensburg, Pa.) being named as the recipients of the Patriot League Swimmers-of-the-Week honors on Monday.
Anthony posted a time of 1:37.48 in the final of the 200 freestyle last week in Chapel Hill, N.C. That clocking was not only good for a second-place finish in the race, it also was an NCAA `B' cut qualifying time. Anthony also placed third in the 500 free and 10th in the 200 backstroke at the meet, while helping Navy record a trio of top-three showings in relay events. This included being part of NCAA `B' cut qualifying times in both the 400 and 800 freestyle relay races.
Gorinski also attained an NCAA `B' cut qualifying time last weekend with her time of 2:13.82 in the final of the 200 breaststroke. She would place fourth in the championship final of the event while also placing fifth in the 200 individual medley, sixth in the 400 individual medley and ninth in the 100 breaststroke. Those individual efforts were in addition to her being part of four relay teams that all placed at least eighth during the meet.
Both Navy teams are off from competition until racing at Army on December 8.
