ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Playing in its final regular-season match of the 2010-11 season, the 16th-ranked Navy squash team bowed out to No. 3 Princeton, 9-0, Saturday afternoon at Halsey Field House in Annapolis.

"I think we saw first-hand why Princeton is ranked third in the country," said Navy head coach Craig Dawson. "It was a tough match, but I also think it was a great opportunity to play one of the premiere programs in our sport. With the team championship a week away, it gave us a reminder of the teams we are going to be facing and the focus we will need to succeed."

While the Tigers won all nine matches, there were a handful of matches that went into extra games. Sophomore David Koenig (Cincinnati, Ohio) but forth a solid effort at the No. 8 slot against Princeton freshman Dylan Ward. Ward picked up an 11-8 win in the opening game with Koenig pushing the rookie in the second, but came up short in a 13-11 decision. Koenig's effort did pay dividends in the following game, as he took game three, 11-6. Ward closed out the win, however, in the fourth behind an 11-2 win.

Meanwhile, Clayton Young (River Forest, Ill.) also lengthened his match at No. 9 against Princeton senior Ed Casserley to four games. Casserley narrowly defeated Young in the opener, 11-9, but Young evened the match at a win apiece with his 11-5 game-two win. Casserley once again bested Young by an 11-9 count in the third before sealing the victory with an 11-5 win in the fourth.

Back in the lineup for the first time since the opening weekend of play was team captain Brad Seidel (Toledo, Ohio), who suffered a foot injury in early November and had to have surgery. Seidel dropped a three-game decision to Princeton freshman Ash Egan, ranked 84th nationally, 11-5, 11-4, 11-7.

The Midshipmen, who own a 23-7 record, will travel to Boston, Mass. next week to take part in the 2011 College Squash Association Team Championship which is hosted by Harvard. Navy will kick off action on Friday against an opponent to be determined.
