Hudson Poirier and Wenqing Tang Team Up to Win 2026 U.S. Intercollegiate Doubles Championship

BALA CYNWYD, Pa. - Navy's Hudson Poirier (So / Wellesley, Mass.) and Wenqing Tang (So / Villanova, Pa.) paired up to defeat teammates Christian Graziano (Fr / Greenwich, Conn.) and Johan Hodgson (Fr / Riverside, Conn.) 15-6, 15-14, 15-11 to win the 2026 U.S. Intercollegiate Doubles Championship Sunday at Cynwyd Club in Bala Cynwyd, Pa. It's the eighth doubles championship won by the Mids and the first for Poirier and Tang.

Eight teams competed in the two-day championship, including three from Navy, two from Princeton and one each from Cornell, Drexel and Penn. Poirier and Tang won a thriller in the quarters, defeating the Cornell tandem of Sebastian Dobron and Syan Singh in five games. Poirier and Tang opened the match with a 15-13 win and from there on the two teams traded victories until the fifth when the Navy duo pulled out the match with a 15-11 victory to advance to the semis. Due to an injury suffered by the team of Yuvraj Wadhwani and Aly Ibrahim, the Princeton duo was unable to compete, sending Poirier and Tang to the finals.

Meanwhile, Graziano and Hodgson scored a 3-1 victory over Princeton's Hollis Robertson, who was named a First-Team All-American last week, and Robert Hellman. The Navy tandem went on to face Navy teammates Michael Tierney Jr. (So / Berwyn, Pa.) and Turner Wolf (Fr / Bronxville, N.Y.) in the semis. Tierney Jr. and Wolf picked up a 3-0 sweep against Drexel's Singh Mundra and Shomari Wiltshire in the quarters. The semifinal match between the two Navy squads proved to be a hard-fought match with Graziano and Hodgson prevailing in four games, including a 15-14 decision in the fourth.

Poirier and Tang powered their way past the rookie tandem of Graziano and Hodgson to score a 15-6, 15-14, 15-11 victory en route to the national title on Sunday.

A Navy team has played in the finals in 11 of the last 14 championships (2020-21 was not held due to the pandemic). The Mids won six (2013 - Andrew McGuinness & Hunter Beck) of the nine doubles titles between 2013 and 2019, including five in a row - 2015 - Bill Kacergis & Senen Ubina / 2016 - Randy Beck & Jack Herold / 2017 Jack Herold and Senen Ubina / 2018 Michael Kacergis & Senen Ubina / 2019 Jack Lentz & Michael Kacergis). Navy's Alexander Orr and Ramsay Killinger won the title a year ago behind a 4-0 record on a round robin format and now Poirier and Tang will have their banner raised at the Prager Family Squash Facility, the home of Navy squash.
