PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The 14th-ranked Penn squash team continued its stronghold over the Midshipmen on Thursday afternoon, defeating Navy 8-1 at the Ringe Squash Courts in Philadelphia. The last time the Mids knocked off the Ivy League power was in 2001.

Sophomore Colin Barry (St. Louis, Mo.) scored the Mids' lone win of the evening, posting a 4-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 win over Penn's Michael Mutscheller at the No. 6 slot.

Junior Hunter Beck (Lafayatte Hill, Pa.) held a 2-1 advantage in his match against the Quakers' John Dudzik at the No. 4 position, but Dudzik evened the match with a 13-11 win in the fourth game and took the back with an 11-8 decision in game five.

Freshman Mitch Bottini (New Hamburg, N.Y.) took Penn's Tyler Odell to four games, as did Cotter Walker (Orlando, Fla.) in his match against Daniel Judd at No. 9.

The Mids were forced to change their lineup on Thursday after No. 3 player Hunter Abrams (Wilmington, Del.) was sidelined.

"I'm disappointed with the result of our match tonight, but we have to regroup in a hurry because we will be facing a tough Drexel team tomorrow on its home court," said Navy head coach Craig Dawson.

Navy will be back in action on Friday when it faced 24th-ranked Drexel at 4:00 pm.
