ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy's rising sailing stars continued their winning ways this weekend with a win at the Old Dominion Spring Open. Navy fielded a team of four plebes that dominated the 18-boat fleet. Markus Edegran and Julie Miller finished first in A division with 22 points in 10 races, the same point total as Alex Ramos and Sarah Blake in B.

The biggest regatta of the weekend was one of the largest, most-intensive events of the season, the Graham Hall Team Race, hosted by Navy. Sixteen of the best teams in the country competed over the course of the weekend in 36 dinghies on two courses, sailing a total of 182 races. Sixteen umpires kept the action clean in eight umpire boats and the entire event went off without a hitch thanks to the tireless efforts of our team members and volunteers. On the water, Navy suffered a rough start and ended up in the silver bracket for round two, eventually finishing 10th overall. Sailing for the Mids were skippers Jason Carminati, Devin Laviano, Taylor Vann and Michael Grove with crews Caroline Lockett, Saverio Maldari, Julie Digiovanni, Lukas Edegran, Jocelynn Knudsen, Glenn McKenna and Chelsea Smith.

The team's furthest event to travel to this past weekend was all the way down in Charleston, S.C., for the College of Charleston Women's Intersectional. The Cooper River served up heavy winds, strong currents and storms that proved quite the challenge for our women, who finished seventh out of nine teams. Mary Hall, Erica Leinmiller, Killian Corbishley and Layne Morrison were sixth in A division, while Marissa Lihan and Emma Ferris were sixth in B.
