Gymnastics Travels to William & Mary on Saturday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -

The Navy gymnastics team will travel to Williamsburg, Va., on Saturday to take on No. 12 William & Mary for the second consecutive weekend. The Midshipmen and Tribe will meet at 7 p.m. in the third dual of the season between the teams.

Saturday marks the fourth time this season the teams will meet and the seventh dual between the programs over the last three seasons. Last weekend, William & Mary registered higher team totals in five of six events and held a 3.55 point lead after three events, but the Tribe outscored Navy by nearly 10 points over the next three events to seal the win, 420.5-407.05. Navy posted a season high score of 70.4 in the rings.

The National Rankings
Junior Chris Junghans is ranked 15th in the nation in the all-around with a three-score average of 81.967. Navy ranks 15th nationally in rings (69.55) and vault (70.483). The Tribe is ranked in the top-15 nationally in the floor exercise, pommel horse, vault, parallel bars and high bar. William & Mary's season-average score of 417.033 ranks 12th in the country.

Sophomores Stepping Up
Sophomores Eric Viscardi and Jeff Sauers have been making steady improvement in each meet this season. Last Weekend, Viscardi and Sauers both registered career-high scores in the vault. Viscardi scored a 14.75 to lead all competitors in the event, while Sauers registered a 14.6. Viscardi, who posted a 14.2 in the floor exercise last weekend, has been the Mids' leader in the event in each of the last three meets.

Up Next
Navy will next be in action when it travels to Philadelphia, Pa., for a three-way meet with Army and Temple on Saturday, March 23. The following weekend (March 29-30), Navy will return to Williamsburg, Va., for the USAG Collegiate Division Championships.
