ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Looking to stretch its winning streak to seven, Navy (8-2-0, 1-0-0 Patriot League) travels to Lafayette (4-3-1, 0-1-0 Patriot League) on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Oaks Stadium (3 PM). The Mids have outscored their last six opponents, 17-3, during their six-match winning streak.
Last Time Out
• Navy went 2-0 with statement wins over preseason Patriot League favorite Boston University, 1-0, on Friday. Then traveled to St. Francis (Pa.) and scored five goals in a 5-0 win on Sunday.
• Versus BU, the Mids used a Terrier own goal to grab an early 1-0 lead. Navy's defense clamped down in the second half, allowing six total shots, one of which was on net. Hoerner recording four saves in her third complete shutout.
• Against the Red Flash, Navy found scoring from five different scorers, including Patriot League leader Dankanich with a goal and an assist. Hoerner and Dayton Wetherby combined for the team's sixth shutout of the season.
Scouting Lafayette
• Lafayette is 4-3-1 through the midway point of its 2013 season. The Leopards have played well at home, posting a 3-1-1 record at Oaks Stadium with three shutouts.
• Offensively, the Leopards have used a balanced attack with five different goal scorer, four of which have two goals.
• Alyssa Finelli paces Lafayette with six points on two goals and two assists. Teammate Jaclyn Giordano's two goals this season have been game-winners.
• Navy owns a commanding 19-2-1 lead in the all-time series. However, both of Lafayette's wins have come at home. The Leopards most recent win was on Oct. 7, 2011 (1-0).
Career Firsts
• Freshman forward Cat Macklin and sophomore midfielder Courtney Mason scored their first collegiate goals against The Citadel on Sunday, Aug. 25.
• Freshman midfielder Emily Tucker tallied her first career point, an assist, against High Point on Friday, Sept. 13.
Dangerous Dankanich
• Junior forward Morgan Dankanich is becoming more and more dangerous on offense to opposing defenses. Dankanich recorded five points on two goals and one assist to garner the Patriot League BRINE Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 9 through Sept. 15.
• Dankanich added a goal and an assist last week to her team-leading 17 points through 10 games.
Tempo-Setting Davidson
• Sophomore midfielder Kaylie Davidson seems to be the go-to midfielder to kick start the offense. Davidson scored the first goal of the season for Navy against N.C. State. That goal versus the Wolfpack gave the Midshipmen a 1-0 lead heading into the second half.
• Two days later, the Oceanside, Calif. native scored the first of Navy's five total goals against The Citadel. Her goal was the eventual game-winner, which brought her tally of game-winning goals to four in her career.
• Against St. Bonaventure, Davidson recorded her second game-winning goal of the season in the 92nd minute of overtime.
All-Around Performer
• Goalkeeper Elizabeth Hoerner's was placed on three different preseason honors and was named the team's captain for 2013.
• Hoerner's 1.06 goals against average, .808 save percentage, four shutouts and a 17-2-1 record in 2012 not only garnered her a spot on the 2013 Patriot League Preseason Team, but is being watched as one of 31 potential candidates in all of Division 1 women's soccer for the MAC Hermann Trophy this season.
• The senior goalkeeper has not disappointed this season, having put up solid numbers through the first eight games.
• Hoerner has posted a 0.97 goals against average through seven games played. She has recorded three solo shutouts and has combined with teammates Dayton Wetherby and Kalli Schulz for three more.
Dynamic Defender
• Along with her teammate Hoerner, junior defender Jade Seabrook has placed on the big stage following a terrific 2012 campaign as a full-time starter. Seabrook has not skipped a beat to begin the 2013 season, anchoring a backline that has recorded four shutouts.
• The St. Paris, Ohio native has seen little time on the bench, having played 876 of the 916 possible minutes.
