Nov. 23, 2015 CENTER VALLEY, Pa. â€"â€" Noah Martin (Sr., San Tan Valley, Ariz.) and Joe Kaszubowski (Fr., Whitefish Bay Wis.) from the Navy men's swimming and diving team garnered weekly accolades from the Patriot League on Monday. Martin was tabbed as the league's Corvias Men's Swimmer of the Week, while Kaszubowski earned the Corvias Men's Diver-of-the-Week laurel.
The Navy duo was recognized for their respective performances during the three-day Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Mids as a team placed fourth in the seven-team field that included Duke, North Carolina State, Yale, Old Dominion, East Carolina and meet-host North Carolina.
Martin attained a pair of NCAA B cut times on the weekend. His career-best effort of 4:22.63 in the 500 free gave him a third-place finish in the event and bettered the NCAA standard of 4:24.99. Martin also was under the B-cut line of 15:30.39 in the 1650 freestyle with his fourth-place clocking of 15:13.60. That latter time also was a career-best time and the No. 7 time recorded in school history.
Martin additionally placed 13th overall in the 200 free with a time of 1:40.42 and was part of Navy's second-place finishing â€"â€" by 12-hundredths of a second â€"â€" 800 freestyle relay team.
This was the first swimmer-of-the-week award earned by Martin in his career.
Kaszubowski, who earned his second weekly nod from the league in this his freshman season, totaled 308.95 points to finish sixth on the one-meter board and tallied 330.40 points to place ninth in the three-meter competition. He completed his weekend by accruing 257.05 points to finish in seventh place in platform diving.
Navy's next meet will be Dec. 10 when the Mids play host to Army West Point.
