CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy women's soccer sophomore Meghan Hegarty (Richmond, Va.) earned her second academic honor in 2015 as she was named to the Patriot League All-Academic squad, which was announced by the league office on Wednesday. Hegarty was recently named a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree.

Nominees must be at least sophomores in the classroom and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20.

Hegarty owns a 3.95 grade-point average while majoring in operations research. Her 3.95 GPA is tied for the third-highest mark on the 11-player academic squad. The Richmond, Virginia, native is currently seventh out of 1158 classmates in Overall Order of Merit, first in Academic Order of Merit and second in Military Order of Merit.

Hegarty has also excelled on the playing field this season, recording career highs in points (14), goals (4) and assists (6). She recently recorded an assist in Navy's 6-0 victory over American in the Patriot League Quarterfinals on Tuesday. Hegarty's six helpers tie her with teammates Rachel Feldman and Eleanor Pratt for the most in the league.

Third-seeded Navy will face second-seeded Bucknell in the Patriot League Semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m. at Nickerson Field in Boston, Massachusetts. The match will be streamed live and for free on PatriotLeague.TV.
