Nov. 9, 2015 CENTER VALLEY, Pa. â€"â€" Marlin Brutkiewicz (Jr., Mobile, Ala.) and Joe Kaszubowski (Fr., Whitefish Bay, Wis.) were recognized by the Patriot League on Monday for their respective efforts in helping the Navy men's swimming and diving team post a trio of victories over league foes last weekend. Brutkiewicz was tabbed as the league's swimmer of the week and Kaszubowski garnered the league's diver-of-the-week accolade.
Navy tallied wins over American, Bucknell and Lafayette in Lejuene Hall to improve its record to 7-0 this season.
Brutkiewicz swept both breaststroke events contested on the day, winning the 100 breast with a time of 54.90 and the 200 breast in a clocking of 2:01.21. He posted a 3.08-second margin of victory in the former event and a 4.09-second margin of victory in the latter. He additionally swam the breaststroke leg on Navy's victorious 200 medley relay team. His time of 24.76 was the fastest of any breaststroke swimmer in the event by 1.69 seconds.
Kaszubowski posted a score of 341.25 points to win the three-meter competition against the Eagles, Bison and Leopards by 11.45 points. His score in the event qualified him for the NCAA Zone Diving Championship that will be held in Lejeune Hall after the end of the regular season. Kaszubowski also placed second â€"â€" by 2.30 points â€"â€" on the one-meter board to teammate Frank Love (Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) with a score of 306.45.
This is the second weekly nod garnered this season by Brutkiewicz and the first earned by Kaszubowski.
Navy will next be in competition Nov. 19-21 when the Mids take part in the Nike Cup at North Carolina.
