ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy men's soccer senior captain Derek Vogel has been named to the 2015 NSCAA All-Northeast Region Second Team, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America recently announced.
Vogel has earned all-region honors for a third time in his career. He was named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region Second Team in 2014 and to the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team in 2013.
Vogel was named to the All-Patriot League First Team in 2015 and became the first men's soccer player in Navy history to be named to the All-Patriot League four straight years.
He was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team as a freshman, the first team as a sophomore, the third team as a junior and the first team again as a senior.
Vogel led Navy with 10 points in 2015 on three goals and four assists. He missed three games due to an injury, but started all 15 games that he appeared in and logged 1,267 minutes. He also helped Navy post seven shutouts.
Vogel scored in Navy's draw with No. 23 Penn State and in Navy's win over Ohio State. He also tallied the game-winning goal against Holy Cross.
Vogel graduates ranked sixth in school history with 71 career games played and is fourth in school history with 15 career assists.
Vogel was used as both a center back and a forward during his career.
Vogel and Martin Sanchez ('14) are the only two Navy soccer players to earn three all-region honors.
