HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Navy women's golf team placed 12th out of 15 teams at the Low Country Intercollegiate this Saturday and Sunday at the Moss Creek Golf Club with an overall score of 677 (342-335; +101). The 36-hole tournament was completed in rainy conditions on Sunday.

Navy was in 14th place after Saturday's opening round of 342, but rebounded to shoot a 335 on Sunday to move up to 12th place, passing The Citadel and Presbyterian.

"The team made a nice move forward today," said head coach Nadia Ste-Marie. "We had a couple of rain showers today but had nice golfing weather overall for both days. I am please with our team's progress."

Princeton and Wofford, the tournament host, tied for the overall lead at 618 (+42), but a predetermined tiebreak awarded the Tigers the tournament title. The tiebreak was decided by the fifth, non-qualifying team scorer's second-round. SCAD-Savannah placed third with a two-round score of 621.

Princeton's Jordan Lippetz and SCAD-Savannah's Sofia Molinaro were individual co-medalists with 2-over par scores of 146. Wofford's Lauren Dunbar was third at 150 (+6) in the field of 81 players.

Junior team captain Renata Bucher led Navy with a 164 (84-80; +20) to place in a tie for 38th place. Bucher was Navy's low scorer for the second straight tournament this spring.

Freshman Legare Augenstein was the second-best Navy finisher with her two-day score of 167 (84-83; +23) to place in a tie for 48th place. Freshman Christine Walker was one shot behind Augenstein with an overall score of 168 (83-85; +24) to tie for 53rd place.

Freshman Jane Moon placed in a tie for 67th place with a 178 (91-87; +34) and freshman Kellyanne Hurst was 74th at 182 (93-89; +38).

Navy will next compete at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate from March 30-31.
