WEST POINT, N.Y. ­- The Navy gymnastics team earned its highest finish in the ECAC team competition since 2009 when it scored 415.3 points to rank second overall on Friday. The Mids recorded its second-best score of the season in the conference's postseason meet that was hosted at Army's Gross Sports Center. The host Black Knights won the team title with a score of 422.05 to earn the automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Championship.

Army and Navy were followed in the standings by William & Mary (410.9), Illinois-Chicago (409.35), Springfield (406.0) and Temple (403.9).

As a team, the Mids scored a 69.65 in the floor exercise, 69.35 on the pommel horse, 70.75 on the rings, 69.30 on the vault, 68.40 on the parallel bars and 68.05 on the high bar.

In the all-around competition, Jonny Tang (So., Malvern, Pa.) finished in third place with his second-highest point total of the 2015 season at 84.05. The second-year gymnast scored a 14.65 on the floor exercise, 13.8 on the pommel horse, 13.45 on the rings, 13.75 on the vault, 14.0 on the parallel bars and 14.4 on the high bar. His efforts on the floor exercise (4th), parallel bars (8th) and high bar (4th) earned him top-10 rankings and entry into Saturday's individual finals.

Army's Jesse Glenn took the all-around crown with 86.05 points, while UIC's Jason Gaides was second at 84.6.

Navy had four first-place results on Friday led by Mitchell Larios (Jr., Frisco, Texas) finishing atop the floor exercise and parallel bars standings. Larios scored a 14.9 on the floor exercise and a 14.55 on the parallel bars. Other top-finishers for the Mids included Eric Morrison (Jr., Broomfield, Colo.) on the pommel horse at 14.85 and Thomas Goodell (Sr., Hopkinton, Mass.) on the rings at 14.75. Larios' parallel bar score was a career-high and Morrison's pommel horse score tied a career-best.

Goodell will be joined in Saturday's individual finals by Joshua Steves (Sr., Houston, Texas) and Eric Viscardi (Sr., Marietta, Ga.). All three seniors finished amongst the top-10 as Steves was second at 14.65, while Viscardi was 10th at 13.95.

Larios qualified for a third final with the second-best score on the vault at 14.55.

Navy's high bar effort was led by Goodell, who registered a score of 14.5 to rank second overall amongst 32 competitors.

Other Mids that finished in the top-15 included Connor Westrick (Jr., Waterford, Wis.) on the pommel horse (13th-14.0), Michael Dorsey (Jr., Hollywood, Fla.) on the pommel horse (15th-13.9), Connor Gonzales (Jr., Glen Ellyn, Ill.) on the rings (15th-13.75) and Zac Ceroli (Jr., Angier, N.C.) on the vault (14th-13.9).

The individual event finals for the championship where ECAC All-Conference accolades will be on the line begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
