WALLACE, N.C. - The Navy women's golf team concluded play at the River Landing Classic at the River Landing Golf Course on Sunday. Navy shot its second-lowest three-round total of the season at 969, but placed 12th out of 12 teams in a very competitive field. The Mids shot back-to-back scores of 322 on Saturday and then shot a 325 on the lone round on Sunday to finish with a 54-hole score of 969 (322-322-325; +105).
Columbia won the team title with an 886 (+22) and was followed by Delaware (894; +30) and William & Mary (899; +35). Columbia's Jacqueline Chulya was the individual medalist with a three-round total of even par at 216 (73-74-69).
Freshman Christine Walker tied Navy's 54-hole school record total of 238 (+22), a record that she now shares with Renata Bucher, Jane Moon and Emily Laskin. Walker shot an 81 in the first round on Saturday and then followed with a 79 in the second. Walker then closed with a six-over par 78 on Sunday to tie for 45th place in the 67-player field.
Freshman Kellyanne Hurst tied for 53rd place with a three-round total of 241 (81-77-83; +25) and Bucher tied for 56th place with a 54-hole score of 246 (82-80-84; +30).
Sophomore Katie Ryall, competing as an individual, matched her career-best 54-hole tournament round with a 247 (84-81-82; +31) to tie for 58th place.
Freshmen Legare Augenstein and Moon tied for 61st place with matching scores of 250 (+34). Augenstein's rounds were 78-89-83 while Moon shot 83-86-81.
"We are continually building and improving our overall scoring average," said head coach Nadia Ste-Marie. "Our young team has shown lots of improvement this season. I am excited for the Patriot League Championship coming up."
Navy will next host the 2015 Patriot League Women's Golf Championship at the Naval Academy Golf Club from April 18-19. Navy will host the league championship for the first time and the league's winner will also receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Regional for the first time.
