Sept. 8, 2015 ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Sophomore forward Aubrey Jones has been named the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week, presented by Rolls-Royce, the NAAA announced on Tuesday.
Jones scored two goals in Navy's two games last weekend. Jones scored his first goal of the season in Navy's 3-2 overtime loss to Oakland on Friday and also scored the game-winner in Navy's 3-0 win over Ohio State on Sunday.
Jones scored in the 87th minute to even the game against Oakland at 2-2 and force overtime. Jones struck a feed from senior Derek Vogel to beat the goalkeeper.
Jones scored Navy's first goal against Ohio State in the 36th minute from the left side off a pass from sophomore Brock Dudley.
Jones came off the bench in both games.
Both Ohio State and Oakland advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round in 2014.
Navy will next play at Longwood on Friday and then at No. 4 Maryland on Monday.
