ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams will resume their respective dual meet seasons Saturday when the Mids compete at North Carolina. The meet in the school's Koury Natatorium is slated to begin at 11 a.m.

Both Navy teams make the trek to Chapel Hill with 8-0 records on the season. Saturday's meet will be the first for the Mids since they swept Army on Dec. 10 in Lejeune Hall.

"We expect excellent competition both in the pool and on the boards this weekend," said Navy men's swimming head coach Bill Roberts. "North Carolina is strong in every event and having an excellent season.

"We are definitely looking forward to returning to competition. I feel our team has done some really good things in training since our last meet. This weekend will be a great opportunity to put our training to test."

"This is the start of a very challenging second semester slate of meets," said Navy women's swimming head coach John Morrison, who will be facing his alma mater on Saturday. "We will have to go fast against one of North Carolina's better teams in recent years, but we are excited about the opportunity to compete against a team such as the Tar Heels at this time of year. It is a great way to begin the push for our team toward the league championship meet portion of our season, as well as our efforts to qualify individuals for the NCAA Championship and the Olympic Trials."

North Carolina's men's team placed fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship last year on its way to finishing in 18th place at the NCAA Championship. The squad enters Saturday's meet with a 4-2 record in dual meets this season.

The Tar Heels posted a 169-126 victory over Navy last season in Annapolis.

North Carolina's women's team concluded the 2015 season by finishing in second place at the ACC Championship and placing 19th at the NCAA Championship. The Tar Heels have posted a 5-1 record this season.

North Carolina won a 184-105 decision over the Mids one year ago on The Yard.

This will be the fourth year in a row in which the Navy and North Carolina teams will face each other. The Tar Heels have swept each of the three previous meets.
