Oct. 14, 2016 ANNAPOLIS, Md. â€" With four Patriot League matches remaining, the Navy women's soccer team (6-8-2, 2-2-1 PL) looks to improve its league position in a crucial league match with Colgate (5-6-3, 2-3 PL) Saturday night at Beyer-Small '76 Field in Hamilton, New York.

Last Time Out
• Two early first-half goals helped Navy (6-8-2, 2-2-1 Patriot League) defeat Howard (8-4-2, 5-0-1 SWAC), 2-1, Tuesday night at Greene Stadium in Washington, D.C.
• Sophomore Eleanor Pratt (New Orleans, La.) sparked the Mids first offensive opportunity in the 11th minute when she sent a pass over to teammate Cat Macklin (McLean, Va.) towards the top of the 18-yard box. Macklin took two touches to the top of the box, lofted a high-arching shot towards the net and over Howard goalkeeper Gabrielle Emilien for her first goal of the season.
• Navy found itself attacking in Howard territory in the 31st minute when junior Megan Rogers (Orange Park, Fla.) sent a through ball past the Howard backline to teammate Baseley McClaskey (Grand Junction, Colo.). McClaskey, who snuck behind the Bison backline, dribbled into the box and ripped a hard shot underneath the crossbar for her first collegiate goal.
• Down 2-0 in the second half, Howard found itself with a penalty kick opportunity following a Navy foul inside the 18-yard box in the 65th minute. Noelle Mccullom was given the nod for the penalty kick and finished for her fifth of the season.
• Navy held advantages over Howard in shots, 13-10, and shots on goal 10-6, while the Bison earned a slight 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
• Navy freshman goalkeeper Sydney Fortson (Claremont, Calif.) had a strong performance in her second career start, tallying five saves on six chances to earn her first collegiate win.
Patriot League Standings
• With four matches to play, Navy currently sits tied-for third with Lehigh at seven points.
• Navy holds a one-point edge over both Colgate and Loyola, both of whom each have six points and are tied for fifth.
• Right behind Colgate and Loyola, Army West Point and Holy Cross sit tied-for seventh with five points each.
• The Mids own the head-to-head tiebreaker with Lehigh, putting them in third place at the moment.
• Top two seeds at the end of the regular season with have a bye, while the third and fourth seed will host a quarterfinal match to begin the postseason.
Scouting Colgate
• Colgate finished its nonconference slate with a 3-3-3 mark, following Monday's 1-0 win over Cornell.
• The Raiders own a 3-2-2 record when playing at home and have outscored their opponent, 12-9.
• Colgate sits one point behind Navy in the league stands at 2-3-0.
• Freshman Abby Sotomayor has begun her young career off with a bang, leading the team with 16 points on eight goals, which include four game winners. Sotomayor has helped Colgate earn both of its league wins as she tallied the game-winning goal in each.
• Freshman Kelly Chiavaro has started 13 matches in net for the Raiders, owning a 1.42 goals-against average with a .775 save percentage.
All-Time Series
• Colgate has a slight edge over Navy in the all-time series at 14-13-5.
• The Mids are unbeaten in their last three matches against the Raiders.
• Colgate however is 8-4-3 versus Navy in Hamilton, New York.
• The Mids earned a 3-1 victory in Annapolis last season, using two different scorers and a Colgate own goal. Dayton Wetherby needed only two saves in the match to earn the victory in net.
