UPPER SAUCON, Pa. - The Navy women's golf team placed fifth out of nine teams at the Lehigh Invitational this Sunday and Monday at the Saucon Valley Country Club Grace Course with a two-round score of 657 (332-325; +81).
Lehigh won its home tournament with a 36-hole team score of 618 (304-314; +42). The Mountain Hawks were followed in the top five by Georgetown (622), Monmouth (649), Siena (653) and Navy (657). Navy finished one stroke ahead of sixth-place Bucknell (658).
Lehigh's Elizabeth McGarrigle was the individual medalist in the 54-player field with a 36-hole score of 154 (77-77; +10). McGarrigle tied for first place with teammate Aileen Jeong (76-78=154; +10), but McGarrigle claimed medalist honors due to the tiebreak of her lower second-round score.
Junior Christine Walker led Navy with a 161 (81-80; +17) to tie for 21st place. Freshman Morgan Frazier rebounded on Monday to tie for 25th place with a 165 (87-78; +21).
Junior Legare Augenstein was one shot behind Frazier in a tie for 27th place with a 166 (82-84; +22).
Junior Jane Moon tied for 29th place with a 168 (85-83; +24) and freshman Katie Um rounded out Navy's starting lineup in 34th place with a 169 (84-85; +25).
Navy had four players competing as individuals at the Lehigh Invitational.
Junior Mary Kate Nelson placed 37th with a 171 (85-86; +27) and senior Marci Browning placed 41st with a 173 (93-80; +29). Freshman Abby Schroeder placed 42nd with a 175 (86-89; +31) and freshman Micah Vincent placed 44th with a 178 (87-91; +34).
"Sunday was very windy and we played a lot better on Monday," said Navy head coach Nadia Ste-Marie. "It was good to play this course since we will be back here for the Patriot League Championship in the spring."
Navy has concluded its fall tournament schedule and will return to action this spring for its championship season.
"Overall it was a very good fall season for us," said Ste-Marie. "We know where we are now and we know what we need to do to start the spring season on a good note."
