ANNAPOLIS, Maryland - The Navy men's squash team scored a pair of shutout victories on Sunday to run its record to 7-0 just a handful of weeks into the 2016-17 campaign. The Mids earned an 8-0 victory over visiting Washington followed by a 9-0 win over Johns Hopkins to complete a five-match sweep for the weekend.

Four Navy players saw action in all five matches over the weekend with all four walking away with 5-0 marks. Jack Herold (Jr. / Chicago, Ill.), who stands atop the Mids' ladder, secured a 5-0 record for the weekend with 3-0 sweeps over Washington's Raghuvir Reddy and Johns Hopkins' Phillip Shin. Dylan Sweeney (So. / New York, N.Y.) picked up a 3-0 win over Washington's Andres Yepez at the No. 2 slot before returning to his No. 3 position to sweep JHU's Mick Lim. Meanwhile, Navy freshmen Owen Davis (Rydal, Pa.) and Michael Kacergis (Malvern, Pa.) remain unbeaten this season, both earning shutouts over their two foes on Sunday.

Juniors Greg Hyer (Tenafly, N.J.) and Sam McCartney (Chicago, Ill.) saw their first action of the season. Hyer scored a 3-0 win over Andrew Kim of Washington and dealt Hopkins' Eli Ross a 3-0 loss, while McCartney posted 3-0 wins over Washington's Aman Bawa and JHU's Jack Klein.

The Midshipmen will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Philadelphia to battle Drexel. Match time is set for 5:00 pm.
