CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - For the second-straight season, Navy women's soccer junior Meghan Hegarty (Richmond, Va.) was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, which was announced by league office on Wednesday.

The selection process was conducted by the League's women's soccer sports information directors, who could not vote for their own student-athletes. Eight of the 10 Patriot League programs were represented by at least one student-athlete, with both Colgate and Bucknell placing two and three, respectively, on the 11-member team.

Hegarty has continued to excel in the classroom at the Academy, owning a 3.96 grade-point average as an operations research major. She has been placed on the Superintendent's List three times and Commandant's List in her first four semesters at Navy. The Richmond, Virginia, native is currently 54th out of 1120 classmates in Overall Order of Merit, 54th in Academic Order of Merit and 22nd in Military Order of Merit.

On the field, Hegarty has tallied four points on two goals. She is has started in 18 of 20 matches this season.

Hegarty was also placed on the CoSIDA Academic District II first-team on Oct. 28. Her honors placed her on the national ballot to determine the Academic All-America team, which will be selected later this month.

Hegarty and the Mids will take on second-seeded Boston University on Friday in the Patriot League Semifinals at 7 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Friday's match can be seen live and for free on PatriotLeague.TV.
