CENTER VALLEY, Pa. â€"â€" The Navy swimming and diving teams swept the four weekly awards for the sport from the Patriot League on Monday. Marlin Brutkiewicz (Jr., Mobile, Ala.) and Kenzie Margroum (Jr., Fort Thomas, Ky.) were announced the league's swimmers of the week, while Joe Kaszubowski (Fr., Whitefish Bay, Wis.) and Julie Jesse (Sr., Edwardsburg, Mich.) were tabbed as the divers of the week.

Brutkiewicz put together an undefeated week to help the Mids defeat Johns Hopkins and Towson on Jan. 27 and then Columbia and Penn State on Jan. 29. He initially posted a time of 55.32 to win the 100 breaststroke against the Blue Jays and Tigers by 2.91 seconds while also swimming the breaststroke leg on Navy's winning 200 medley relay team. Brutkiewicz then swept the two breaststroke events â€"â€" 55.20 to win the 100 breast by 1.99 seconds; 2:01.87 to win the 200 breast by 2.01 seconds â€"â€" and again swam on the winning 200 medley relay team against the Lions and Nittany Lions.

Brutkiewicz ended the dual meet season with 23 wins in 24 breaststroke events.

Margroum entered the meet against Johns Hopkins and Towson with two individual event wins this season and five in her career. She would record a trio of event wins against the Blue Jays and Tigers to aid Navy's effort in defeating both programs. Margroum touched the wall in a time of 1:51.13 to win the 200 free by just under one second, tallied a time of 23.59 to win the 50 free by four-tenths of a second and posted a 1.67-second margin of victory in the 500 freestyle with her clocking of 4:58.70. She also was the initial swimmer on Navy's winning 200 freestyle relay time. Her time of 23.95 was the fastest opening 50 yards of anyone in the field by three-tenths of a second.

Margroum capped her strong week by earning a pair of victories during the Navy Invitational held on Jan. 30 in Lejeune Hall. Her time of 2:06.65 gave her the victory in the 200 individual medley by over two seconds, and she won the 100 butterfly by nearly one second with her clocking of 57.04. It was the first time in her collegiate career in which she swam the 200 IM in an event and the first time since November in which she was entered into the 100 fly.

Like Margroum, Jesse also attained a pair of victories during the Navy Invite. She accrued 267.85 points to not only win the one meter by 18.45 points, but also surpass the NCAA Zone Diving Championship qualifying standard of 260 points. Jesse swept the boards contested on the day as her score of 266.00 points gave her the victory on the three meter by 1.30 points.

Kaszubowski's week began with him totaling 294.45 points on the one meter against Columbia and Penn State. That score gave him the win on the board against the Lions and placed him third in the dual against the Nittany Lions. He then placed second on the three meter against both foes with a score of 347.15 points. Kaszubowski would go on to match Jesse's effort during the Navy Invite. He scored 301.25 points to win the one meter by nearly 10 points and 359.10 points to win the three meter by 28.15 points.

Navy will play host to the Patriot League Championship Feb. 17-20 in Lejeune Hall.
