ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's soccer team (0-1-1) will host Northern Illinois (0-1-1) on Friday at 7:00 PM at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in its home opener. Friday's game will be first-year head coach Tim O'Donohue's first contest at Glenn Warner. There will be free live video of the contest with Joe Miller serving as the announcer.

Navy will seek to win its home opener and the Mids are 20-6-1 over the last three seasons at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.

Navy tied Furman, 1-1, in its last outing at the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic in Charleston, S.C. last Sunday. Sophomore Daniel Kwon scored on a penalty kick in the 50th minute to even the game at 1-1. Junior goalkeeper Mac Burke made a career-high 10 saves in the contest for Navy.

Furman had defeated then-No. 23 FIU, 1-0, in its season opener and the Paladins were a 2015 NCAA Tournament team.

Burke started both of Navy's first two games last weekend. The DeMatha Catholic graduate logged 200 minutes in the first two games after playing just 343 minutes in seven career games before this season. His 10 saves were the most by a Navy goalkeeper since Aaron Dupere made 11 saves against UMBC on Sept. 10, 2011

Kwon's tally against Furman was his third career goal. Kwon scored in back-to-back games last season against William & Mary and Loyola and received the Patriot League's Rookie of the Week award on Sept. 28, 2015 for his efforts.

O'Donohue used 20 different players in Navy's first two games against College of Charleston and Furman and 14 different players started a game last weekend. Burke, junior midfielder Brock Dudley, junior defender Thomas Moore and freshman defender Diego Manrique have all logged the full 200 minutes to date this season.

Northern Illinois is coming off a 4-0 loss at Marquette on Monday evening. The Huskies gave up two goals in the first half and two goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Marquette outshot Northern Illinois, 14-5.

NIU tied SIU-Edwardsville in its season opener, 1-1. Sophomore Max Voss scored his first collegiate goal in the 17th minute in the draw with SIUE.

Junior goalkeeper Drew Donnally is 0-1-1 this season with a 2.25 goals-against average and a .545 save percentage.

Northern Illinois was 7-7-1 overall last season and 1-3-1 in the Mid-American Conference. This will be the first meeting between Navy and NIU.

Navy will next play at Villanova on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Parking / Shuttle Information
Fans are reminded that the general public does not have access to drive their vehicles on to the U.S. Naval Academy. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5 and take a shuttle that will run every 10 minutes starting at 6:00 PM, one hour prior to the game and will continue running until one hour after the game is completed. Fans 18 and over need a government-issued photo ID. Enter Gate 5 off Taylor Ave. to park at the stadium. Dogs are not permitted inside the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
