CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy men's soccer sophomore Ericson Bean has been named the Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 18. Bean helped Navy post a 1-0 win at Saint Joseph's in the team's only game last week.

Bean, a center back, scored the game-winning goal in Navy's win at Saint Joseph's on Saturday night. Bean came forward on a corner kick and headed in Sam Bascom's serve in the 34th minute. It was Bean's first career goal.

Bean also helped limit Saint Joseph's to just two shots on goal with his play on the defensive backline and helped Navy post its second shutout of the season.

Navy improved to 8-0-0 all-time against Saint Joseph's.

Bean is the second Mid to earn the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week award this season after freshman Diego Manrique earned the award on Sept. 5.

Navy will next face Army West Point in the Army-Navy Cup V at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa. on Friday evening. The game will be broadcast on the American Sports Network.
