PHOENIX, Md. - The Navy women's golf team shot a 622 (310-312; +46) to place sixth out of 13 teams at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational this Sunday to Monday at the par-72, 6,162-yard Eagle's Nest Country Club. The tournament was played under rainy conditions on the final nine holes Monday.

Towson won its home invitational with a two-round score of 605 (295-310) and was followed in the top-five by Bethune-Cookman (607), Lamar (612), Lehigh (615) and Longwood (618). Longwood's Courtney Tolton was the individual medalist in the 71-player field with a 4-over par 148 (74-74).

Freshman Katie Um tied for fifth place individually with a program-record 151 (74-77; +7) and was just three strokes behind the medalist Tolton, who she was playing with. The previous individual school record for a 36-hole tournament was a 153 by 2016 graduate Renata Bucher. Through two tournaments this fall, Um leads Navy with a 77.5 scoring average.

Freshman Morgan Frazier turned in her second straight top-20 performance of the season by tying for 15th place with a 154 (76-78; +10). Frazier's season average is right behind Um's at 77.8.

Junior Jane Moon tied for 32nd place with a 158 (81-77; +14) and junior Christine Walker was one stroke back with a 159 (79-80; +15) to tie for 34th place. Junior Legare Augenstein rounded out Navy's lineup with a 165 (82-83; +21) to tie for 45th.

As a team, Navy's 310 in the first round matched its opening round score at the Navy Fall Invitational last weekend as the lowest team round in relation to par (+22) in program history. Navy's overall score of 622 was eight strokes better than the 630 that the Mids shot last weekend at the Navy Fall Invitational, which was the previous program best.

"The team played well," said head coach Nadia Ste-Marie. "We keep improving, we are getting more comfortable and we are seeing more consistent play. We know we belong at this level. We had some tough conditions today and we left some shots out there, but we know we can play even better."

Navy will next compete at the Quinnipiac Classic from October 10-11.
