CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy women's soccer sophomore forward Anabell Motley (Asheville, N.C.) was named the Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, which was announced by the league office on Monday.
Motley was Navy's offensive catalyst as the Mids went a perfect 2-0 this past weekend. The sophomore forward recorded two game-winning goals and an assist in two matches.
On Friday, Motley broke a scoreless tie in the ninth minute against archrival Army West Point. The Asheville, North Carolina, native's goal stood as the game-winner to give the Mids their first Patriot League win and the Naval Academy its first Star victory of the 2016-17 season. Motley then carrier over her offensive success into Navy's 2-0 victory over Mount St Mary's, as she had a hand in both goals. She tallied her second goal of the season in the 39th minute to give the Mids a 1-0 lead. Motley then capped off the weekend with a helper to teammate Natalie Dzhandzhapanyan to give the Mids their insurance goal.
Navy improved to 14-11-3 all-time versus Army and 12-8-3 in Star matches. The Mids kept their unblemished record against the Mount as they moved to 14-0 all-time.
