ANNAPOLIS, Md. ---- Members of the Navy men's tennis claimed each of the flight titles at the Navy Blue Invite held this weekend in Annapolis. Andrew Ton (Fr., Milipitas, Calif.) won the A singles flight, Walker Sims (Sr., Memphis, Tenn.) claimed the B singles flight and Ton teamed with Aries Wong (Sr., Bethesda, Md.) to win the lone doubles bracket.

Ton did not drop a set in winning the A flight singles title and lost just 13 games in winning his four matches. He defeated George Mason's Eddie Ayers, 6-1, 6-0, in Sunday's final.

Sims won all but one set during the course of his four-match run to the B flight title. He recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory over George Mason's Carter Bradford on Sunday to earn the flight crown.

Ton and Wong received a bye out of the first round of the doubles draw, then proceeded to win all but a combined six games in winning their three remaining matches. They were paired against teammates Matthew Lee (So., San Diego, Calif.) and Andrey Majkic (Sr., Jacksonville, Fla.) in today's final, with Ton and Wong winning by the score of 6-4.

"Andrew had a great weekend winning the singles and doubles events," said Navy head coach Chris Garner. "He proved he was the best player in the event. Walker's trajectory after losing his first match of the season is incredible. He has been improving weekly. A great weekend for him on the singles and doubles court."

Also in singles, Wong placed fifth in the A flight while the B singles flight saw Peter Lohrbach (Fr., Little Neck, N.Y.) place third, Romesh Kahatapitiya (Fr., Virginia Beach, Va.) finish in sixth place and Joshua Martin (Sr., Foley, Ala.) place eighth.

In doubles, Greg Durham (So., Melbourne Beach, Fla.) and Lohrbach were Navy's third team to compete in the championship side of the bracket. Durham and Lohrbach would place seventh.

"Matthew came back after a first round loss to have some nice wins and win the consolation final of the A singles flight," said Garner. "The team showed signs of improvement during the event. I thought the team showed some strong promise in doubles play. We need to keep working to improve in order to be ready for the next events and the spring season."

Navy's fall schedule will continue Oct. 27-29 when the Mids play host to another three-day invitational.
