ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy's offshore sailing took part in three events this past weekend as its fall slate continues to wind down.
At the McMillan Cup, the Midshipmen had one team compete and finish sixth out of 10 teams.
George Davis led his crew at the McMillan Cup, which included
Matthew Signorelli,
Christian Hoffman,
Zackary Bauer,
Zachary Krause,
Sean Caraher,
Jonathan Hitt and
Tom Hawkins.
Navy had five crews compete at the Annapolis Yacht Club Fall Series. In the ORC2 class, The Navy 44 Defiance finished third, while Navy 44 Tenacious lost a tiebreaker on points with Defiance and finished fourth out of nine entries.
Jay Corbett skippered the crew on Defiance, where Pier Haines,
Tim Forman,
Luke Marino,
Kevin Navarro, Tom Steif,
Harlan Ticatch and Ani Murali crewed the boat. On the Tenacious,
Viktor Turner captained his crew of Maddie Arbogast,
Hayden Espericueta,
Matthew McClelland, Ben Van Duyne,
Charles Dimer and Brett Eckert.
In the J/105 class, the Midshipmen had three entries in the 20-boat fleet. Avenger had the best performance with
Hayden Kuzemchak leading the team to a sixth-place finish. Kuzemchak's crew included
Don Poirier, Jared Casados, Ashley Koenig, JP Post and Eddie Rankin. Navy's Dreadnought crew finished ninth with
Ethan Falsone captaining his crew of
Katie Boyle, Matt Gilchrist, Ian Flynn, Paul Jervis and Teagan Foley. Allegiance rounded out the Navy boats in the class after
George Hamilton skippered his crew to 16th. Hamilton had Cody Spedero, Phil Smith, Adam Lance, Liz Hauschild and Connor Hallet on his crew.
Navy's weekend ended as it hosted the ICSA Fall Keelboat Promotional Regatta in the fleet of Navy 26s. The Midshipmen won the event with Matt Malone captaining Isaac Cho, Austin Riggs and Mark Burgess. Navy beat out second-place Michigan and Coast Guard took third.
The Midshipmen are off next weekend and then competes at the J-105 Chesapeake Bay Championship in two weeks on October 27 and 28 in Annapolis.
