MACATAWA BAY, Mich. – Jessica McJones (Jr., Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) rounded out the fall season for the Navy intercollegiate sailing team after posting a 10th-place finish at the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship this past weekend.
McJones was one of the 18 individuals in the country to qualify and compete in the Laser Performance Women's College Sailing Singlehanded Nationals in Macatawa Bay, Mich.
On the first day of competition, the course was set out in Lake Michigan with the wind starting out light and building up to the 8-12 knots with big lake swells. McJones had a hard time sailing into the lumpy conditions and stood in 12th after the first day.
With windier conditions on the second day, the course shifted into the Macatawa Bay. McJones found her stride on day two and finished in the top seven in each of the last five races to climb up to 10th overall.
Navy has concluded its fall season and will return to action in 2019.
