ITHACA, N.Y. - The Navy women's rowing team had a solid showing as a guest at the 2018 Dunn Bowl competition at the Cayuga Lake Inlet in Ithaca, New York on Saturday. Racing against the host Cornell Big Red and No. 11 Brown University Bears, the Mids claimed three second-place performances amongst a five-race slate.

Navy entered three varsity eight crews and two varsity fours on Saturday. Racing as a guest in the Dunn Bowl first varsity eight event, the Mids placed second overall with a time of 6:47.5. While Brown clocked in first at 6:37.8, Cornell came in third behind Navy at 6:50.8.

Brown earned its second win in as many races in the second varsity eight contest with a 7:02.7 result. Once again, Cornell and Navy mixed it up during the 2,000-meter race. The host Big Red edged the Mids for second place, 7:14.0 to 7:16.9.

The final NCAA-style race was the first varsity four competition. A spaced out race saw Brown finish first at 7:47.3 with Navy coming in second at 7:58.4. Cornell came in 5.7 seconds behind the Mids at 8:04.1.

In lower boat action, the Mids clocked in at 7:59.0 in the second varsity four race to place third of three. The third varsity eight race was a head-to-head matchup between Navy and Brown. The Bears' 3V8 crew knocked off the Mids, 7:30.2 to 7:39.3.

"I am really pleased with both the team and the staff for making adjustments on this short week," said head coach Joe Schlosberg. "We were better racers this week and we really saw some great fight from this entire group. There are still things that we can work on so I know that this team will find more speed."

Navy will wrap up its regular season next Saturday with a multi-team event in Philadelphia. The Mids will race versus St. Joseph's, West Virginia and Delaware on April 28.
