Mids to Travel to Loyola for Patriot League Tilt

Navy is 2-1-2 over last five matchups with Loyola

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's soccer team will look to improve to 2-0 in Patriot League play this Friday night with a road matchup at Loyola. Heading up the road to Baltimore and the Ridley Athletic Complex, the Mids (4-3-3, 1-0 PL) and Greyhounds (3-5, 0-1 PL) will go head-to-head starting at 7:30 p.m. Loyola will be providing live stats and a video stream on the Patriot League Network for all of Friday night's action.

Last Time Out
Navy comes into Friday matchup following a dramatic come-from-behind 3-2 overtime win at Howard on Monday ... Down 2-1 to the Bison with just over two minutes left in regulation, the Mids received a game-tying goal by freshman Tori Mitchell in the 88th minute before Baseley McClaskey  put home the game-winning goal 3:07 into the first overtime period ... Alex Jackson netted Navy's first goal on Monday as she collected a Regan McQuain rebound and blasted the ball into the back of the net in the 19th minute.

For the game, Navy outshot Howard, 22-8 with a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal ... The Mids also controlled the corner kick category by a 14-2 margin.

On the year, McClaskey has now scored six goals and added two assists over 10 contests ... Her overtime score was the 25th golden goal in program history and first for the Mids since Oct. 15, 2016 when Cadie Higginson tallied the game-winner versus Colgate ... McClaskey is the four-time reigning Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.

Navy vs. Loyola
In a series that dates back to the first-ever NCAA Division I game for Navy on Sept. 4, 1993, the Mids are 7-3-2 all-time against the Greyhounds ... After dropping the first two games of the series in 1993 and 1994, Navy has fallen to Loyola only one time, a Sept. 24, 2016 meeting by a score of 2-1 in double overtime (7-1-2 record) ... Since Loyola joined the Patriot League in 2013, Navy is 2-1-2 in five regular season meetings ... 2017 Recap
Navy used consistent pressure and quick striking offense to secure a commanding 4-0 win over Loyola in the Mids' home conference opener on Sept. 22, 2017 ... With the game scoreless at halftime, but significant advantages in possession and scoring chances in favor of the Mids, a wild eight-minute run of play in the opening stages of the second half saw Navy net three consecutive goals over Loyola.

Karli Sottung got the scoring going in the 49th minute before Ash Fairow and Meghan Hegarty followed in quick succession in the 54th and 56th minutes, respectively ... Eleanor Pratt netted the fourth goal for Navy with a penalty kick in the 78th minute.

Loyola's goalkeeper Sumer Rahe kept Navy out of the scoring column in the first half with six saves before the consistent pressure and frenetic pace of play by the Mids finally resulted in positive effects on the scoreboard as the proverbial flood gates opened over a 7:44 span of play between 48:03 and 55:47.

For the game, Navy outshot Loyola, 18-5 with a substantial 12-3 advantage in shots on goal. The host Mids also won the corner kick battle with an 8-2 margin in that category.
