CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Accounting for three goals this past week, junior Alex Jackson (Centennial, Colo.) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Announced by the league in their weekly awards release, the Mids' starting central defender was honored for netting three combined scores in victorious action for Navy versus Howard and Loyola.

Always a threat for Navy in set piece opportunities, Jackson came through on three separate occasions last week. On Monday in non-conference action at Howard, Jackson got Navy on the scoreboard early in the 19th minute, when she hammered home a rebound off a deflected goalie save as part of a corner kick scramble. Four days later on Friday in Baltimore, the Colorado native was on the receiving end of two set-piece volleys as she put away a Karli Sottung header in the 33rd minute to help Navy go up 1-0 over Loyola before later netting an important insurance marker in the 81st minute. On her second goal, Molly Gillcrist flicked a Baseley McClaskey corner kick into a scrum inside the box where Jackson one-timed a shot into the back of the net. Navy would hold on late versus Loyola, 2-1. During the Mids' 2-0 week, Jackson was on the field for all 183 minutes of play.

This is the second career weekly award for Jackson (Defender of the Week, 10/23/17) and sixth consecutive honor for a Midshipmen defender this season. As a program, Navy has now collected Patriot League weekly honors in each of the first six weeks of competition in 2018. Baseley McClaskey has earned the Defensive Player of the Week honors four times on Aug. 27, Sept. 3, Sept. 10 and Sept. 17, while fellow defender Kayla Robinson was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 20.

Winners of three straight games, Navy (5-3-3, 2-0 Patriot League) will be in action twice this week with a home Patriot League tilt on Wednesday night versus American at 7 p.m. before hitting the road up to Bethlehem, Pa. for a Saturday night contest at Lehigh.
