Last Time Out
Navy came away with a dramatic 3-2 golden goal overtime victory over American University on Wednesday. Faced with a 2-0 deficit in the 28th minute and an hour and a half delay for lightning, the Mids battled all the way back to earn their third win of the Patriot League season.
Eleanor Pratt scored the first two goals (41' and 90') for Navy before freshman
Victoria Tran netted the game-winning walk-off goal in the 99th
minute.
Pratt left her mark on the game at 40:29 when she calmly converted a penalty kick for Navy after
Baseley McClaskey was fouled seconds earlier dribbling through the box. The senior's second goal came with just 50 second left as she collected a weak clearing attempt from American and hammered home a one-timer shot on goal low and past the Eagles' goalkeeper into the left corner.
In the latter half of the first overtime period, sophomore
Denisse Ramirez attained the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box and quickly played a square pass to Tran, who dribbled for space past an American defender and connected for a high arching shot over the American defense and most importantly the Eagles' goalie for the dramatic golden goal victory at 98:31. The golden goal was the 26th
in Navy's program history and second in nine days as McClaskey found the back of the net in the Mids' 3-2 win at Howard on Sept. 17.
For the game, Navy outshot American, 19-16 with a 8-5 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams recorded two corner kicks.

2017 Recap
Navy continued its hot start to Patriot League play with its fourth straight conference win courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Lehigh on a blustery Saturday, Sept. 30. Taking on a defensive-minded Mountain Hawks team, who came into the matchup with a 0.57 goals against average, the Mids netted goals in each half on its way to the win at the
Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
Ash Fairow and Eleanor Pratt tallied the scores for Navy, while Sydney Fortson recorded the shutout in goal with three saves over the 90 minutes of action.
Fairow got Navy on the scoreboard early as the junior forward controlled a failed Lehigh clear about 20 yards from goal before she took two dribbles and ripped a shot towards goal. Her shot surely would've tested Lehigh goalkeeper Sam Miller had it not deflected off of a Mountain Hawk defender and into the empty lower left corner of the goal.
Pratt finally found the insurance goal that Navy had been searching for in the 81st minute as she was on the receiving end of some crisp, quick passing from Clare MacAdam and Meghan Hegarty in the midfield.
For the game, Navy outshot Lehigh, 12-6 with a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams tied in corner kicks with three a piece.
