CHARLESTON, S.C. – The fifth-ranked Navy rifle team (5-2, 2-1 GARC) grabbed two wins to start its trip in South Carolina after racking up 4,649 points on Saturday at the Inouye Marksmanship Center. North Carolina State (3-1, 0-1 GARC) scored 4,621 points and The Citadel (3-4) tallied 4,490 points.

The Midshipmen had the top-three shooters in the field with
Michael Zanti (So., Norfolk, Va.) leading all individuals with 1,166 points.

The trio of Zanti,
Mark Amdahl (So., Albuquerque, N.M.) and
Gabriella Mayes (So., Rio Rancho, N.M.) led the field with 576 points in smallbore. Navy finished with a 2,299 in the discipline to lead the three teams as
Torrance Kang (Jr., Columbia, Md.) rounded out the Midshipmen's scoring lineup with a 571 in the event.

In air rifle, Zanti continued his strong event and paced the field with a 590 as he was at least tied for the lead in all three scoring categories. Mayes finished third in the field – and just missed a three-way tie atop the air rifle standings – after firing a 589. Amdahl notched a 587 and Kang capped off the scoring for Navy in air rifle after posting a score of 584 points in the discipline.Â

Following the top-three Navy scorers in Zanti (1,166), Mayes (1,165) and Amdahl (1,163), Emily Fisher compiled the top aggregate score for North Carolina State with a total of 1,161. Alexander McAlear was The Citadel's top shooter with a 1,136.

Navy is back in action on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. as it takes on The Citadel in a head-to-head match.Â
