Navy Lightweight to Conclude Fall Schedule at Head of the Occoquan

Mids to enter four boats

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy lightweight rowing program will conclude its fall season this Saturday with action at the 2019 Head of the Occoquan. Hosted by the Occoquan Boat Club, the racing will take place at Sandy Run Regional Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia. The Mids have four crews that will be racing over the 4.7k course on the Occoquan Reservoir. Navy's first boat will be competing in the Men's Collegiate Eights race at 11:30 a.m. before a trio of crews partake in the Men's Freshmen Eights at 2:00 p.m.

The field of the 11:30 Men's Collegiate Eights race includes teams from Georgetown, Maryland, Pitt, Loyola, Virginia Tech, LaSalle, George Mason, Penn State, Carnegie Mellon and Catholic. In the 2:00 PM Men's Freshmen Eights event, 12 schools will have entries.

The lightweights are coming off a successful showing at last Sunday's Princeton Chase. Racing in two separate Men's Lightweight Eights events, Navy posted two top-seven results in both races. The Mids' A boat placed fifth in the first race with a time of 13:31.261 before their B boat turned in a time of 14:14.853 in the second race of the day, that was good for sixth overall. In both contests, a second Navy boat came in seventh place.
