ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's soccer team found out its destination for the upcoming NCAA Tournament on Monday with the NCAA Selection Show. Part of the Stanford bracket, the Mids (16-2-3) will open action on Friday night at North Carolina State (10-6-4). Kickoff between the Wolfpack and Mids is set for 7 p.m. at the Dail Soccer Field.

The Raleigh first round site is matched up with the Fayetteville site and the third-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks. Friday's game will be the fifth-ever tournament contest in Navy program history and first since 2007. Navy won the Patriot League Tournament and the automatic bid that's associated with it when the team knocked off Army on Sunday afternoon by a score of 2-1.

Navy and North Carolina State are no strangers to each other as the Mids and Wolfpack have met five times before in a series that dates back to 2003. In those five matchups, North Carolina State is 5-0 all-time over Navy with three of those contests being decided by one goal. In the most recent meeting between the two programs on Aug. 16, 2018, N.C. State defeated Navy, 2-1 in the Mids' home opener in Annapolis.

In the Mids' history in the NCAA Tournament, the team is 0-3-1 and has advanced once to the second round of the tournament in 2006 when they went to penalty kicks versus William & Mary on Nov. 10, 2006. After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Mids outscored the Tribe, 5-4 in the best-of-five shootout.
