ANNAPOLIS, Md.—The Navy Football team (9-2) finished 21st in the final regular season Associated Press and Coaches polls and 23rd in the final College Football Playoff ranking.

The 21st ranking in the two polls is Navy's highest ranking since 2016 when the Mids were ranked 20th after beating SMU, 75-31.  Navy was also ranked 19th that same week in the College Football Playoff ranking.

Navy has not finished a season ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 since 2015, when the Mids finished 18th in both polls. That team finished with a school record 11 wins against just two losses.

If Navy can beat Army next Saturday and Kansas State in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, the Mids are almost assured to finish in the Associated Press Top 25 for just the third time in the last 56 years (18th in 2015, 24th in 2004. Navy did finish 17th in the UPI poll in 1978).
