AUSTIN, Texas –– Navy's Bradley Buchter (Jr., Hickory, N.C.) earned Honorable Mention All-America laurels in Thursday's one-meter springboard competition at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship, in Austin, Texas.

Buchter placed 10th in the preliminary round of diving with a six-dive score of 318.05 points.  That effort advanced him to the consolation final in the event where he scored 315.90 points to finish in fifth place.

He is the first Navy diver to earn All-America honors of any kind since 1996 when Nate Smith placed fourth in the platform competition, seventh in the one-meter event and 16th on the three-meter board.  Buchter also is the first men's diver in Patriot League history to earn All-America accolades of some kind.

Buchter, who is competing at the NCAA Championship for the third year in a row, is entered into the three-meter event on Friday and teammate Jake Hedrick (So., Hummelstown, Pa.) will compete in Saturday's platform event.
