CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Navy baseball freshman Zach Stevens (Lexington, Mass.) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday afternoon following his performance this past weekend.
 
This is Stevens' first career weekly honor and he becomes the first Midshipmen to win the award since Jared Leins (So., Raleigh, N.C.) won the honor last season on April 23. Navy has been recognized with Patriot League weekly award winners over the first three weeks of the season with Noah Song (Sr., Claremont, Calif) earning Pitcher of the Week honors the past two weeks.
 
During his two games played this weekend, Stevens went 5-for-6 at the plate with three runs and three RBIs. He also recorded a pair of triples against Massachusetts on Sunday and he finished the week slugging 1.500. 
 
In Navy's doubleheader sweep this past Sunday he posted an on-base percentage of .875 and recorded a pair of multi-hit games. Stevens helped the Midshipmen beat Central Connecticut State, 5-2, and UMass, 12-4.
 
On the season, Stevens is hitting .500 with six hits and six runs scored, while boasting a .833 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base mark.
 
Along with Stevens being selected as Rookie of the Week, Song earned an honorable mention nod this week with his 10-strikeout performance in seven shutout innings against UMass last Saturday.
 
Following the schedule change, Navy is back in action on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. against UMBC at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium.
