CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Zach Biggers (Jr., Walhalla, S.C.) was selected as the Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week, which marks his first league player of the week honor in his career.
During his freshman campaign, Biggers earned a pair of Patriot League Rookie of the Week nods. Biggers also becomes the second different Mid to grab player of the week honors after
Christian Hodge (Sr., Winder, Ga.) won the award on March 19 and April 2.
In five games last week, Biggers went 10-for-19 at the plate to lead all Navy hitters with a .526 batting average. He also led the team last week with six RBIs and slugged .632 with a pair of doubles. Biggers swiped two bases and is now tied for the team lead with five stolen bases.
Biggers finished the week with a hit in all five games and had four multi-hit games along with RBIs in four of the five games. The junior is currently on an eight-game hitting streak where he has posted six multi-hit games over that span. In the field, Biggers notched 10 putouts and 12 assists to go along with no errors.
Overall, Biggers has moved his average up to .307 and he leads the way with 43 hits while sitting second on the team with 30 RBIs this year. He leads the Patriot League with 43 hits and ranks ninth in the league in batting average (.307) while ranking fifth in RBIs (30). Biggers' .992 fielding percentage is second in the league with at least 100 chances.
Navy is back on the road Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. to take on Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md.
