The Mids, who enter the contest 5-7 overall and 3-4 in Patriot League action, are led by eighth-year head coach
Rick Sowell, while the 10-4 Terriers are under the direction of sixth-year head coach Ryan Polley. Saturday's game marks just the sixth meeting in a series that Navy leads, 3-2, and dates back to 2014 when BU joined the Patriot League.
• Follow the Action: Friday's game will be streamed online (FREE) via Navy's web site and PatriotLeague.TV, as well as on Facebook and Twitter with Pete Medhurst and
Joe Miller handling the call. Live stats will be available at NavyStats.com. The contest will NOT be broadcast on the radio.
• Senior Salute: Naval Academy Director of Athletics
Chet Gladchuk and Head Coach
Rick Sowell will honor Navy's 10 senior lacrosse players and 1 senior video manager, as well as their families, prior to the start of Friday's contest.
• The Streak Is On: Senior midfielder
Ryan Wade owns the nation's 10th-longest point-scoring streak with a goal or an assist in each of the last 36 contests. He has produced 102 points (35G, 67A) during the streak that dates back to the Feb. 25, 2017 contest against Boston University. The three-year starter has been held without a point just 3 times in his career. Meanwhile, he has also dealt out assists in each of the last 33 games.
• 40: Ryan Wade leads the team in the scoring column this spring with 44 points on 18 goals and 26 assists. He is one of only four midfielders in program history to score 40 points in a season and the first since 1989 when Brian Keith produced 53 points on 41 goals and 12 assists. Wade needs 2 goals to join 1986 MacLaughlin Award winner Glen Miles (23G, 30A in 1986) as the only two midfielders in school history to score 20 goals and deal out 20 assists in a single season.
• Dynamic Duo: Seniors
Greyson Torain (82-46=128) and
Ryan Wade (40-75=115) are the 34th and 35th Navy players, respectively, to reach 100 career points, while they are the ninth and 10th midfielders to achieve the feat in the program's 112-year history. Torain and Wade are just the fifth set of classmates in school history to reach 100 points, joining Brendan Schneck and Mike Hannan in 1978, Michael Herger and Brian Keith in 1990, Ian Dingman and Billy Looney in 2007 and Sam Jones and Tucker Hull in 2014.
• Kern Joins Top 10 Saves Leader Board: Third-year starting goalkeeper
Ryan Kern used a career-high tying 18-save performance against Army (4.13) to move past Kelly Award winner Matt Russell (2003-06) into 10th on Navy's all-time saves list. He heads into Friday's game against Boston U. just 2 stops shy of becoming only the 10th goalkeeper in school history to reach the 400-save milestone. He has amassed 149 saves this spring, just 3 shy of joining Navy's top 20 single-season saves list. Only 2 players in the last 20 years are among the top 20 - #6 RJ Wickham with 188 saves in 2010 and #19 John Connors with 154 in 2016.
• Navy Soars In Riding Game: Navy made a significant change in its riding game this season and it has paid dividends. The Mids have held their opponents to a 72.7 clearing percentage which stands third nationally. Virginia leads the way, holding its opponents to a 70.0 clearing percentage, while Cleveland State follows at 71.4.
• High Scoring Foes: Navy has already faced the second and fourth-highest scorers in the country in Loyola's Pat Spencer (6.92 PPG) and Princeton's Michael Sowers (6.31 PPG). The Mids will face their third opponent among the nation's top 5 when Boston's Chris Gray steps on the field. Gray is ranked third nationally, averaging 6.71 points per game.
