ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy women's lacrosse junior attacker
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) was named Third Team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as announced on Wednesday. Larkin becomes the third player in school history to be named IWLCA All-American, joining
Jenna Collins (First Team 2018) and Jasmine DePompeo (Third Team 2013).
Earlier this year, Larkin was selected IWLCA First Team All-South Region. It is the second time in her three-year career that Larkin has been named First Team IWLCA All-South Region. Larkin joined Collins (2015-18), DePompeo (2010-13), and Loren Generi (2012-15) as the only Midshipmen in school history to earn multiple IWLCA All-Region distinctions. The trio of Collins, DePompeo, and Generi were each named All-South Region three times. Collins and DePompeo both earned first-team honors as seniors en route to All-American accolades. Larkin is the first Midshipmen to earn first-team recognition in multiple seasons (2018, '19).
This season, Larkin was named Second Team Media All-American by Inside Lacrosse. She earned her third overall All-Conference accolade and second consecutive first team distinction. She was named Patriot League Attacker of the Year for the first time in her career, becoming the first Navy player to earn the award since DePompeo named Offensive Player of the Year in three consecutive seasons (2011, '12, 13). In addition, she was selected First Team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
She is the first player in Patriot League history to record three 100-point seasons. In addition, the junior holds the Navy and Patriot League record for career points with 346, passing DePompeo for the all-time record. She ranks second in Navy history with 161 assists (six shy of first place) and fifth in career goals with 185 (39 shy of first place).
Larkin led the team with 121 points on a team-high 69 goals and team-best 52 assists. The Alexandria, Va. native played and started all 21 games on the season. She scored at least one goal in all 21 games, including netting hat tricks in 14 games. She notched at least one assist in 15 games with multiple helpers in 12 games. Larkin converted 10 free-position opportunities and netted six game-winning goals. In addition, she added 26 ground balls and eight caused turnovers on the year.
