ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy's offshore sailing team kicked off their 2019-20 season with a strong showing at the Annapolis Labor Day Regatta this past weekend. The Midshipmen had three boats finish in the top five of Class A2 at the regatta.

In a field of 11 boats in Class A2,
Jonathan Hitt led his crew on Tenacious to a second-place finish in the field and
Katie Boyle's crew was just behind in third place on the NA24. The final top-five finish for the Midshipmen came from
Ben Van Duyne and the crew on Integrity that finished fourth overall in the division.Â

Navy's final boat in Class A2 was led by team captain
Christian Hoffman as he guided his team on Defiance to an eighth-place finish.

The Midshipmen had three boats race in the J/105 class where a total of 18 boats competed. Leading the class for Navy was Dreadnought in sixth place, where Nick Waldon skippered the crew. Nick Hogan and Allegiance finished in 10th place, while
Paul Jervis and the crew on Avenger placed 14th overall.

Next up, Navy takes part in the NASS Race to Oxford and the return race in the Hammond Memorial this coming weekend.
