ANN ARBOR, Mich. –– The Navy swimming teams totaled three event wins and six second-place finishes during an unscored long-course meet against Michigan and Miami (Ohio), Saturday morning at Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Â
One day after the teams competed in a traditional short-course yards (25-yard pool) dual, the programs met again in a long-course meet (50-meter pool) in efforts to help gain 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials cut times. The teams raced in six relay events and four 50-meter length individual events.
Â
"We had another good session of racing," said Navy women's swimming head coach
John Morrison. "The relay format allowed us to move many of our swimmers to their second, third or fourth events and race competitively in a variety of spots. We were proud to see the strong, never quit effort in two days of racing this early in the season. We learned so much about ourselves with being able to compete against Michigan and Miami that we can use in our training and preparation to take us to the next level.
Â
