Mids Drop 6-3 Decision to No. 9 George Washington

The Navy squash team (7-8) dropped its second 6-3 decision in as many days, as ninth-ranked George Washington (6-4) topped the Mids Wednesday night in Annapolis.

The Highlights
•  Team captain Michael Kacergis (Sr / Malvern, Pa.) has won three straight matches, picking up his seventh win of the year with a 3-1 win over junior Inaki DeLarrauri at #3. Kacergis fell behind in the match with a 12-10 loss in the opener, but rattled off three consecutive wins to the secure the four-game victory.
• With his victory over DeLarrauri, Michael Kacergis recorded his 57th career victory and moved into a tie for 24th on Navy's all-time wins list alongside Michael Beautyman Jr. (2005-09). Next in his sights is former All-American Tucker George (2004-08) who stands 23rd on the leader board with 58 wins.
• After dropping tough extra-game matches against their Brown foes on Tuesday evening, sophomores Ryan York (Hunt Valley, Md.) and Ben Korn (Stevenson, Md.) came back to pick up wins on Wednesday against the Colonials at the #5 and #6 positions, respectively. York lost a tight first game, 11-9, but stormed back to win in four games. Korn, meanwhile, went up 2-0 in his match, but Lucas Stauffer rallied to knot the match and force a fifth game. Korn kept his composure and sealed the win with an 11-6 win in the fifth.
• After building a 2-0 advantage, #7 player Tommy Rankin (Fr / Atlanta, Ga.) suffered his second consecutive heartbreak with a five-game loss to Juan Laguna. He dropped a five-game match on Tuesday evening against Brown. He has only played 3 extra-game matches on the year, including 2 five-gamers.
• Additionally, freshman Millen Randell (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Gus Prager (New York, N.Y.) dropped 3-1 decisions.
• The Mids hold a 24-6 advantage against George Washington, however, the Colonials have won 6 of the last 7 matches which falls in line with when they became a varsity sport.
• Navy now stands 16-3 against the Colonials in matches played in Annapolis.
