Tipping Off
• Navy comes into the weekend following their best offensive performance of the season with a season-high 88 points in an 88-83 road win against Lehigh. Navy finished shooting 50.9 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc, which both set season-bests against NCAA Division I opponents.
• The freshmen duo of
Daniel Deaver and
Sean Yoder paced the Midshipmen with career nights. Deaver finished with 25 points -- 18 coming in the first half -- and just missed a double-double with a game-high nine rebounds. Yoder -- who played just 25 miles away from his hometown -- finished with a career-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting off the bench.
• With Deaver surpassing 20 points on Wednesday night, Navy has now had a 20-point scorer in each of its last three games, following back-to-back 20-point outputs from
Cam Davis heading into Wednesday's contest at Lehigh. The last time Navy had three-straight games with a 20-point scorer came during the 2017-18 season when Bryce Dulin and Shawn Anderson teamed up to do it in January of 2018. Dulin tallied 23 points against American (Jan. 5) and Anderson followed with a 21-point game at Colgate (Jan. 8) and then scored 24 points at home against Army (Jan. 14).
• Navy and Lafayette are set to square off for the first time during the 2019-20 season. The two teams split the regular-season series a year ago with the road team winning each matchup.
• The Midshipmen traveled to Easton and won 85-77 on Jan. 16 last year and then the Leopards came to Annapolis to earn an 80-74 victory over Navy. The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for Navy against Lafayette.
• In the all-time series between Navy and Lafayette, the Midshipmen hold a 51-33 edge and hold a record of 36-14 at home against the Leopards. The two programs have met 56 times in Patriot League regular-season game and each team has won 28 times.
