ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men's gymnastics team will continue early season action with its second home meet in as many weeks on Saturday afternoon versus William & Mary. One week after turning in the third-highest score in all of NCAA Gymnastics this season, the Mids (6-2) will look to re-create that success within the friendly confines of Macdonough Hall against the Tribe (4-5) beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Last Time Out
Navy turned in one of the top performances across the entire 2020 NCAA Gymnastics landscape on Saturday, January 18 with a score of 407.8 at its annual Navy Open. Through two weeks of early season action only one team, Oklahoma, has surpassed the 407.5-point mark until the Mids did so on Saturday to the thrill of their fans in Macdonough Hall. Navy outscored its opposition on every event and saw individual Midshipmen gymnasts finish first, second and third on every apparatus.
William & Mary placed second in the team standings with 382.8 points to finish ahead of both Springfield and Temple, who turned in scores of 376.45 and 354.20, respectively.
Lucas Beltran led a quintet of Mids, who placed first on their respective events on Saturday afternoon as he won both the floor exercise and vault. Additional winners, included
David Toussaint on the pommel horse,
Josh Williams on the rings,
Dhiren Lutchman on the parallel bars and
Cash Buske on the high bar.
As a team, Navy scored 69.35 points on the floor exercise, 64.9 on the pommel horse, 65.6 on the rings, 72.8 on the vault, 68.1 on the parallel bars and 68.05 on the high bar.
2019 Matchups with William & Mary
Navy and William & Mary went head-to-head twice during the 2019 season with both competitions being hosted by the Tribe down in Williamsburg, Va. The teams first met on Jan. 26 with Navy edging William & Mary by 3.65 points, 394.25 to 390.6. A little over a month later the squads faced off again. On March 1, the Mids earned a 7.45-point victory, 400.0 to 392.55.
A pair of Navy gymnasts collected event wins at the first meet,
Ben Provost on the floor exercise with a 13.6 score and
Frank Bradley on the vault with a 14.1 effort. At the second matchup, five Midshipmen earned first place results.

Cash Buske and
Ben Provost all collected event wins for Navy as Orce recorded the highest score on the pommel horse (14.5) and Williams was the top-scorer on the rings (13.7). Beltran was the vault winner (14.2), while Buske and Provost tied for top billing on the high bar with matching 13.85 scores.
