Short-Handed Mids Dealt 8-1 Setback by Franklin & Marshall

Playing without its #2 player on the ladder due to illness, the 18th-ranked Navy squash team (7-10) suffered an 8-1 loss to #14 Franklin & Marshall (12-4) Wednesday night in Lancaster, Pa.

The Highlights
• The Mids fell behind 8-0 before Jack Lentz (Jr / Philadelphia, Pa.) fought his way to a 3-1 victory over F&M's Aryan Parekh. Lentz dropped the opening game, 13-11, before winning the next three games - 11-8, 11-9, 11-7 - to capture his team-best 10th win of the season.
• Lentz, meanwhile, is now just two wins shy of joining the program's 50-win club (48-21).
•  Team captain Michael Kacergis (Sr / Malvern, Pa.) had his four-match winning streak snapped by the Diplomats' Sanjay Jeeva. Jeeva won game one, 11-7, before Kacergis leveled the match by mirroring Jeeva's opening game, 11-7. Jeeva, however, went on to win the final two games to claim the victory at #2. Jeeva came into the match having played 14 of his 15 matches at #1 for the Diplomats and owned an 11-3 mark as the #1 player.
• At #3, Millen Randell (Fr / Chicago, Ill.) opened with an 11-7 win against Shamseldeen Abbas and jumped out to a lead in the second. Abbas, however, turned a 2-point deficit into a 12-10 victory and propelled him to a 3-1 win over the Navy rookie.
• Thomas Prim (So / New York, N.Y.) made just his fourth career appearance and fell for the first time in his career when he was clipped in three games by Kingman Bassett at #9.
• Senior Owen Davis (Rydal, Pa.), who plays the #2 spot on the ladder for the Mids, was unable to make the trip after being sidelined with the flu.

What's Ahead
• Navy returns to action on Saturday at 2:00 pm when it plays host to #5 Drexel in its final home match of the season. Navy will also honor seniors Michael Kacergis and Owen Davis who will make their final home appearance of their careers.
