Veterans Classic History

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– The Navy men's basketball team will play host to George Washington on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 12:00 PM ET in the seventh edition of the Veterans Classic. CBS Sports Network will once again televise the event, as this contest tips off the entire college basketball slate for the 2020-2021 season.

The Veterans Classic, held annually around Veterans Day, honors our nation's veterans and showcases the U.S. Naval Academy.

CBS Sports Network, the 24-hour home of CBS Sports, is widely available through all major cable, satellite and telco distributors as well as via OTT streaming service providers YouTube TV, fuboTV, DirecTV and Hulu. Additionally, a live CBS Sports Network stream is available through CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports App by authenticating with select providers. Navy and George Washington will face each other for the first time in a decade and play a game on The Yard for the first time since the 1981-82 season.  The Colonials hold a slim 21-20 advantage over the Mids in the series that began Jan. 11, 1908.

Navy returns all but one starter and two letter winners from its 2019-20 team that ended the year with a 14-16 overall record and an 8-10 Patriot League record.  Navy played 15 league games that were decided by 10 or fewer points, which included eight games determined by no more than five points.

George Washington tallied a 12-20 record during the 2019-20 season, which was the program's first year under head coach Jamion Christian.

Information on additional Navy games during the 2020-21 campaign has not been finalized.
