ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Junior attackman
Tyler Perreten (Crofton, Md.) has been named the Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week following a spectacular performance that saw the first-year starter produce five goals and a pair of assists in the Mids' 16-14 victory over Colgate Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. In addition to Perreten, Lehigh's Anthony Tangredi (defense) and Christian Mule' (Lehigh), Holy Cross' Dan O'Connell (faceoff) and Army's Wyatt Schupler (goalkeeper) were among those players recognized by the league office as players of the week at their respective positions.
Perreten is a first-time recipient of the award and the first Navy player to earn offensive player of the week honors since
Christian Daniel was selected following the Mids' 2019 season finale against Boston University where he scored eight points on five goals and three assists. Coincidentally, Perreten is the first Navy player to most seven or more points since Daniel's performance against the Terriers. Perreten's point, goal and assist totals were all career highs.
Perreten scored two goals in Navy's eight-goal second quarter against Colgate, while his goal at 4:26 in the second frame helped spark a 3-0 run by the Mids and gave Navy the lead for good.
Perreten came into the season having seen action in just 5 games and had produced one goal and one assist. He is currently the Mids' second-leading scorer with 15 points on a team-best 11 goals and 4 assists.
Navy returns to action on Saturday when it plays host to Johns Hopkins (1-4) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium at 12-noon. A free live video stream will be available on the Patriot League Network, while the game will also be carried live on 1430 AM / 99.9 FM WNAV and 1500 AM WFED with
